“Event Cunningham” performed in the newly opened Anni and Josef Albers gallery at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris
The event coincided with Journées Européennes du Patrimoine 2022.
On Sunday, September 18, at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, dancers performed “Event Cunningham” in the newly opened permanent-collection gallery devoted to the art of Josef and Anni Albers, recently gifted to the museum by the Albers Foundation. Dancers Ashley Chen, Anna Chirescu, Pauline Colemard, Julien Monty, Cheryl Therrien, with the participation of amateur dancers from the Danse en Seine group, performed early works by Cunningham including “Dime a Dance” composed of thirteen sequences chosen by a random process to determine order, duration, and number of dancers. The dancers were accompanied by cellist Pierre Le Bourgeois playing music by John Cage. The event coincided with Journées Européennes du Patrimoine 2022.
