The intrepid Denise René, who died in 2012 at age 99, was a close friend of the Albers Foundation. We always had utmost respect for the tenacity and rigorousness with which she advanced hard-edge geometric abstract painting, sticking to her passion rather than working in so many different styles as galleries often do. She did splendid exhibitions of both Anni’s and Josef’s work in both of her Paris galleries.
