Josef Albers and Wassily Kandinsky had a close friendship, not only at the Bauhaus but in the years after the school closed. They frequently wrote one another long letters, and Josef tried to persuade the Kandinskys, who were living in Paris, to move to Black Mountain College and to join them in their wonderful new American life.
